The Buttons app allows users/administrators to program the buttons on Versity devices. User control can be disabled for all buttons or any button. User control of all buttons is enabled by default.

See the *Versity Applications Administration Guide* for information about each of these settings.

## Allowed Values

Allowed values are available in a dropdown menu for each button. If the button is not available on the phone model being configured, the value will be ignored.

The allowed value describes the action the button will perform when pressed. Not all options are available for all buttons. If a button is selected but the phone does not physically have that button, the setting is ignored.

### Run application

{% hint style="info" %}
**Run application availability**

*Run application* is available only on Versity 97, Versity 95/96 Series R2.1 and above, and Versity 92 Series R1.1 and above.
{% endhint %}

A programmable button can be configured to open any app that is installed on the phone. When Run Application is selected, a list of installed apps is displayed. Select the desired app. See the *Versity Applications Management Guide* for more information on configuring this setting.![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ba376a4fab06d13ddef36d14224a1755759a3fcc%2Fimage119.png?alt=media)

### Programmable

Programmable allows an administrator to configure a button’s presses and releases to trigger intents with programmable intent details. The intent details vary depending on the app you’re triggering.

#### Configuring the Programmable Intent option

![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-1e2985f7c442aa750cac1c87debf0ff52ddcbe4e%2Fimage120.png?alt=media)

Here’s an example of how to use the Programmable Intent option to program a button on your Versity phones to automatically initiate MS Teams Walkie Talkie Push-to-Talk calls – *without* needing to open the Teams app and navigate to the Walkie Talkie function:

1. From the Applications list, click **Buttons**:

   *For the following example we’ll configure the Right button to have MS Teams Walkie Talkie functionality (allowing the user to hold the button to transmit and release the button to stop transmitting):*
2. Click **Right Button** in the Buttons list to expand its configuration menu, then select **False** for *Enable User Control of Right Button*.
3. In the dropdown menu that appears, select **Programmable**. Expand the *Programmable Intent Details* section:

   ![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2547ea06fafbe7cfa19db757365b1424667e8149%2Fimage121.png?alt=media)
4. Enter the programmable MS Teams PTT parameters in the *Button Down Action* and *Button Up Action* fields:

   ![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-832fabf104391f7dcbb8e23ece628d213e95bdd5%2Fimage122.png?alt=media)
5. Once your SAM configurations are sent to your phones, they will have MS Teams Walkie Talkie functionality whenever users press the Right button.

### Custom 1-4

The Custom 1-4 settings are available for app programmers. For more information, contact your Spectralink support representative and ask about the AIMS program.

## Additional Settings

### Wake up Device

*For Versity 97 Series phones only*\
Pressing the power button will always wake up the phone. The new *Wake up Device* setting allows administrators (and users) to designate any other button (or multiple buttons) to also wake up the phone. The Top (Alarm) button is set True by default.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-essentials/applications/buttons.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
