For more information on app settings, see the *Versity Applications Administration* *Guide*.

## Allow/Disallow

These options determine whether a user is able to change a given setting on their phone.

If a setting is designated *Allow*, the phone’s user can change the value from whatever SAM originally set it to.

If a setting is designated *Disallow*, the setting will be grayed out in the phone’s UI and cannot be changed by the user.

## Saving the configuration

Each SAM configuration page has three buttons at the bottom.

![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-56e608831e85d2107fce1c4aa7b0e43f985acfa3%2Fimage83.png?alt=media)

* ***Save Configuration*** saves any changes to the database. Any affected phone will get the changes on its next heartbeat.
* ***Cancel*** clears changes but remains on the page.
* ***Send Configuration Now*** saves any changes to the database and triggers an immediate heartbeat to send the changes to the affected phones.

{% hint style="info" %}
**SAM is designed for one administrator at a time**

If more than one administrator is logged into SAM, a conflict of configuration parameters can occur.

If you are an administrator making changes to SAM parameters, and another administrator is also making changes in the same page, you will see a message like this: **New configuration changes: Click here to load settings.** Clicking will refresh the page with the other administrator’s settings, overwriting your changes, which you’ll need to enter again.
{% endhint %}

## Blue dot

![](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-f2bbbfa100e83372b89b4ecba08624aa29d185db%2Fimage84.png?alt=media)

If an app button displays a blue dot, it means that there are unsaved configuration parameters for that app. Save your configuration before exiting the Applications page, or your changes will be discarded.

## Updating applications

Applications are delivered with the Versity software updates. When the Versity software update is downloaded and installed on the smartphone, any application updates are also received and installed.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-essentials/applications.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
