# Log Bundles

**Log Bundles** is the fifth and last of the five sections beneath a device's details. It lists the diagnostic files the device has uploaded, lets you download or delete them, and lets you ask the device to collect and upload a fresh one. To reach it, open a device from the Devices [Inventory](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/devices-inventory.md) tab and scroll down.

## Why this screen matters

A log bundle is a package of the device's internal logs. When Spectralink support asks for logs from a misbehaving phone, this is where you request them and where you collect the file to send — you do not need to touch the handset. Request the bundle soon after the problem is reported. See [Getting help](/amie-advanced/introduction/getting-help.md) for where to send a bundle.

## Before you start

Grayed out? **Request Log Bundle** and **Delete Selected** depend on your role. Ask your AMIE administrator — see [Roles and permissions](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/roles-and-permissions.md).

The [group selector](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/the-console.md#the-group-selector) in the header has no effect on this section.

### Heading and actions

**Log Bundles** with a document icon and a **?**. At the right, **Delete Selected (0)** and **Request Log Bundle**. The number in parentheses is how many rows you have selected with their checkboxes.

### The table

A checkbox column followed by three columns, newest bundle first. Beneath the table, the hint **Click a row to download**. With no bundles the table reads **No log bundles for this device.**

| Column       | What it shows                                                                                                                                                                          |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Filename** | The name of the uploaded file |
| **Size** | The file's size: whole bytes for **B**, one decimal place for **KB**, **MB** and **GB** — **2.4 MB**. Two files reading **2.4 MB** need not be identical |
| **Created** | The date and time the file was uploaded, in your browser's time zone — **September 18, 2026, 2:51 PM** — not when you requested it. **—** if no time is recorded; such files sort last |

## Controls

| Control                                     | What it does                                                                                                                                                                                                          |
| ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Select a row (anywhere except its checkbox) | Downloads that bundle: AMIE creates a temporary link to the file, valid for five minutes, and opens it in a new browser tab |
| Checkbox at the top of the table | Selects or clears every bundle in the list |
| Checkbox on a row | Selects that bundle without downloading it |
| **Delete Selected (N)** | Permanently deletes every selected bundle, immediately and without a confirmation prompt. The list reloads when the deletion completes. Grayed out until at least one row is selected and while a deletion is running |
| **Request Log Bundle** | Opens the **Request Log Bundle** dialog — see [Request a fresh log bundle](#request-a-fresh-log-bundle) |

The selection is cleared when you open a different device.

## Common tasks

### Request a fresh log bundle

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Select **Request Log Bundle**. A dialog of the same name opens, explaining that the device will be asked to generate a log bundle and upload it. A note beneath reads **This process may take 10-15 minutes to complete.**
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Select **Confirm**. While the request is sent, **Confirm** shows a spinning icon and both buttons are locked. The dialog then closes and a brief message tells you whether the device was online: **Log collection requested — the device is online and should upload shortly.** or **Log collection requested — it will upload once the device reconnects.** AMIE holds the request for the device for up to seven days. **Cancel**, the **×**, the Escape key or a click outside the dialog closes it without sending.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Come back after ten to fifteen minutes and the new file appears at the top of the list. The list does not refresh by itself — reload the page, or open the device again, to see it.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

If the request cannot be sent, the reason appears in red inside the dialog, which stays open. **This device isn't currently reachable for log collection.** means the device is not set up to receive requests from AMIE and cannot be asked for logs until it is — see the note under [Send a message to the device](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details.md#send-a-message-to-the-device).

### Download a bundle

Select anywhere on its row except the checkbox. A new tab opens on a link to the file that expires after five minutes; whether the tab shows the file or saves it depends on your browser. If the tab shows an error, return and select the row again for a fresh link.

### Delete bundles

Select the checkboxes of the bundles to remove, then select **Delete Selected (N)**. They are deleted at once; there is no confirmation step and no way to restore a deleted bundle. If a deletion fails, a brief red message says so and your selection is kept; reload the page to see which bundles were removed.

## What to look for

* No new file ten to fifteen minutes after a request. Reload the page first. If the message after your request said **it will upload once the device reconnects**, the device was offline; it will upload when it next connects to AMIE, which for a device in a drawer may be days later, or never. Check **Last Seen** at the top of the page.
* A message saying **it will upload once the device reconnects** on a device whose **Last Seen** is green. "Online" in the message means connected to AMIE at that instant, while the green **Last Seen** looks back 24 hours. The device may simply be asleep; the request is held for seven days.
* **Created** much later than the time of the problem. The bundle was uploaded then, not when the problem happened. Check with support whether it covers the period they need, and request a new bundle as soon as a problem is reported.
* A download tab showing an error. The five-minute link has expired. Return to the list and select the row again.
* A long list of old bundles. Select the checkboxes of the ones you no longer need and select **Delete Selected**. There is no confirmation and no undo, so check the selection first.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details/device-log-bundles.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
