# Battery details

This page shows one battery: its health, cycles, charge and temperature, whether and where it was last seen, and a day of charge history. To reach it, select a row on the Batteries [Inventory](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/batteries-inventory.md) tab, or the battery **Serial** link on [Device details](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details.md).

## Why this screen matters

When one battery is in question — a phone that dies mid-shift, a battery pulled from a charger that feels hot, a **Replace** row on the Batteries **Inventory** tab — this page says whether the battery is worn out, how much it has been used, and whether it is still reporting. [Health (Full Charge Capacity)](#health-full-charge-capacity) decides whether to replace it. [Cycle Count](#cycle-count) says how much it has been used. [Status](#status) says whether it is still reporting, and [Location and Network](#location-and-network) where its last handset is. The **Charge / Discharge** chart shows whether it was charged in the last day.

## Before you start

The page address carries the battery's serial number, so you can bookmark it or send the link to a colleague. You can open any battery in the groups you can see. A link to a battery outside them, or to a serial number that does not exist, reads **Battery not found.** — see [Which groups you can see](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/the-console.md#which-groups-you-can-see).

The page does not follow the [group selector](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/the-console.md#the-group-selector) in the header: it shows one battery, whichever group is selected.

## Screen layout

### Heading

The heading reads **Battery**, then the serial number, then **Details**. A **Back to Batteries** button on the right returns you to the **Inventory** tab.

### Health (Full Charge Capacity)

**Health (Full Charge Capacity)** is the battery's health band, followed by the remaining capacity as a percentage and in milliamp hours (mAh) — **Good** then **(99% · 2990 mAh)**. Remaining capacity is how much charge the battery can now hold when full, as a percentage of what it held when new; it is not the battery's current charge. The band is **Good** at 80% or more, **Warning** from 65% to 79%, **Replace** under 65%, and **Unknown** (gray, with **—** for the percentage) when the battery has no capacity reading. The percentage can move slightly up or down between reports. The band is decided on the exact figure and the percentage is shown rounded, so a battery just under a boundary can read, for example, **Warning** with **(80% · …)**. See [Battery Health Distribution](/amie-advanced/metrics-reference/battery-health-distribution.md).

The mAh figure is the amount of charge the battery holds when fully charged, as most recently reported by the battery or estimated by AMIE from the health percentage. When there is neither a health percentage nor a reported full charge, the number before **mAh** is blank.

{% hint style="warning" %}
TODO: the rule that decides when the mAh figure is an estimate rather than a reported value, and the design capacity the estimate uses, are fixed inside AMIE and not shown on screen. Confirm whether the guide should state them.
{% endhint %}

### Cycle Count

**Cycle Count** is the number of complete charge-and-discharge cycles recorded for the battery. It is printed in red whatever the value, and is blank if none has been recorded (the **Cycles** column on the **Inventory** tab shows **0** for the same battery).

### Temperature

**Temperature** is the battery's temperature at its last report, rounded to a whole number of °C. **—** if none.

### Charge Level

**Charge Level** is how full the battery was at its last report, as a percentage of what it can hold when full today, in red whatever the value, followed by the same charge in milliamp hours — **87%** then **(2600 mAh)**. **—** when no charge was reported; the mAh figure is blank when it cannot be given. This is how full the battery was, not how worn it is: a battery can read **Replace** under **Health** and **100%** here at the same time.

### Status

**Status** reads **Online** or **Offline**, and beside it **Last seen** followed by how long ago the battery last reported, as a short phrase — **now**, **13m ago**, **yesterday**, **2d ago**. **Online** means the last report was within the 24 hours before the page loaded, measured on your browser's clock — a [rolling window](/amie-advanced/metrics-reference/time-and-time-zones.md); **Offline** means it was longer ago, or there is no recorded time. A battery last seen 23 hours ago is **Online**; one showing **yesterday** is **Offline**, because the phrase begins exactly where the 24 hours end. This is not the same threshold as **Offline >7d** on the [Overview](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/batteries-overview.md) tab.

### Location and Network

| Label                        | What it shows                                                                                                                                                                                                      |
| ---------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Last Wi-Fi AP** | The hardware address (BSSID) of the access point the battery's last handset most recently connected to. Shown as the address even where the **Inventory** tab's **Location (Last AP)** shows a name. Blank if none |
| **Last Network Name (SSID)** | The name of the Wi-Fi network the battery's last handset most recently connected to. Blank if none |
| **Last Device** | The serial number of the handset the battery was last in, shown as a link — see [Controls](#controls). Blank if none. \[GAP-battery-1] |

**Last Wi-Fi AP** and **Last Network Name (SSID)** are taken from the handset's most recent report, which can be later than the battery's own last report: they describe where the battery's last handset is now, not where the battery is.

### Charge / Discharge · Last 24h

**Charge / Discharge** is a chart of the battery's charge readings from the 24 hours before the page loaded, on a scale of **0** to **100** percent charge marked at the left in steps of 25, with dashed gridlines at each step. A new reading is added for each report that carries a charge level, at most one a minute. The shaded area is the charge; the line along its top joins successive readings with straight segments. The horizontal axis runs from the earliest to the latest reading in the 24 hours — not a fixed span — with each reading placed by its time. Along the bottom, up to nine time labels — **9:14 AM** — are spread evenly across the width. The labels are approximate: each names the time of one reading, but does not necessarily sit under it, so read the chart's shape by the line, not by the labels.

Beside the heading, in gray, a note reads **(most recent data — battery last seen 13m ago)**, ending with the battery's own **Last seen** phrase. It is always shown and tells you how fresh the newest point on the chart can be.

The chart needs at least two readings in the 24 hours; with fewer it reads **No charge data available for the last 24h.** A battery last seen two days ago therefore always shows this text, and the note beside the heading tells you why.

## Controls

| **Last Device** link | Leads to a page that does not exist, so you see an error page. To reach the device, find the serial on the Devices [Inventory](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/devices-inventory.md) tab. \[GAP-battery-1] |

The chart has no controls: no range, no zoom, no hover values.

## What to look for

* **Replace** under **Health (Full Charge Capacity)**. The battery holds under 65% of what it held when new and may not last a shift. **Status** says whether it is still reporting and **Last Device** which handset it was last in; take it out of circulation.
* **Good** health on a battery from a phone that dies mid-shift. The battery's capacity is not the problem. Read **Temperature** and **Charge Level** here first, then open the handset from the Devices [Inventory](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/devices-inventory.md) and read its [Top App Consumption](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details/device-top-app-consumption.md) for what is draining it.
* A **Cycle Count** of 300 or more — the **300+** bar on the [Overview](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/batteries-overview.md) tab — with **Good** health. The battery has worked hard and is the likeliest to lose capacity next.
* **Temperature** well above other batteries you have looked at. Check where the handset sits when charging. The **Temperature** row on the handset's [Session Activity](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details/device-session-activity.md) shows when it ran hot.
* **Offline** with a **Last seen** of days or weeks. The battery has been swapped out, or left in a handset that is not reporting. **Last Device** is the handset it was last in; find it on the Devices [Inventory](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/devices-inventory.md) and check its **Last Seen**.
* The chart reading **No charge data available for the last 24h.** on an **Online** battery. Fewer than two charge readings arrived in the last day.
* A long straight segment on the chart. It joins two readings far apart in time. The chart cannot tell you whether the charge held steady or nothing was reported in between; the **Charge %** row on the handset's [Session Activity](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/device-details/device-session-activity.md) covers a week and can.
* Neighboring time labels on the chart that name almost the same time. The labels are spread evenly across the width but each names one reading, so where readings were dense several labels name near-identical times and where readings were sparse neighboring labels can be hours apart. The line's shape stays true to the clock.

* [Time and time zones](/amie-advanced/metrics-reference/time-and-time-zones.md) — **Online** is a rolling window and **Last seen** a relative phrase, both on your browser's clock; the chart's 24 hours are measured by AMIE when the page loads

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/battery-details.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
