# Signing up

A new customer creates their [Space](/amie-advanced/introduction/how-your-space-is-organized.md) from the license key Spectralink sends with the first license. Signing up takes a few minutes and needs only the key and the email address of the person who will administer the Space.

## Before you start

* Obtain an AMIE Essentials or AMIE Advanced license from Spectralink through your sales channel. The license key arrives by email.
* Decide which email address will be the Space's first user. The sign-up form calls this the **Super User Email**; the person is created with the **Admin** role and can add everyone else — see [Roles and permissions](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/roles-and-permissions.md).
* Check that your email system accepts mail from the `spectralink.net` domain, and look in the junk folder if a code does not arrive.

## Create your Space

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Open **my.spectralink.net** in Google Chrome and select **Sign up** beneath the sign-in options. The **Welcome to the AMIE Customer Sign-Up Portal** page opens.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Paste your key into **License Key** — copy it whole, without line breaks or spaces around it — and enter the administrator's email address under **Super User Email**. Select **Submit**. **Cancel**, and the **Back to Sign In** link beneath the form, return you to the sign-in page. A message reads **Please check your email inbox for a 6 digit pin code.** Select **OK**.

![After Submit, the page tells you to check your email for a six-digit code.](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-202b76413e48794543887a19ca6863724434d2e2%2Fsignup-pin-notice.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Open the email sent to that address (check the junk folder too) and copy the six-digit code. Under **Confirmation of pin code**, enter it in **Pin Code** and select **Submit**. The code is valid for 48 hours from when you submitted the key.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Under **Complete Your Account Setup**, enter the administrator's **First Name**, **Last Name**, **Phone** and **Password**, the **Organization** name, and the **Timezone**. The organization name becomes the name of the top of your group tree, which the group selector shows. The time zone is recorded for your Space; the console shows times in your browser's time zone — see [Time and time zones](/amie-advanced/metrics-reference/time-and-time-zones.md). The password must be at least 12 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and one of the symbols `. ! @ # $ % ^ & *`. Select **Complete Onboarding**.

![The last step: the administrator's details, the organization name and the time zone.](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a439890481c866cb3df9615a990000dc09d710a2%2Fsignup-complete-setup.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
A message reads **You have now completed the AMIE onboarding process.** Select **OK**. You are returned to the sign-in page.

![Onboarding is complete.](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-fb5a4368fc99d022afeb3cc887c22ab8b6501cc7%2Fsignup-complete.png?alt=media)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Sign in with the email address and password you just set. You land on the [Dashboard](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/dashboard.md) of your new Space, which shows **0** in every count until handsets are connected — see [Connecting handsets](/amie-advanced/planning-and-installation/connecting-devices.md).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## What you have after signing up

* A Space with one group — the top of the tree — named after the organization you entered.
* One user, with the **Admin** role, placed in that group.
* The license from the key, listed under **Settings** on the **Licenses** tab.

Next: shape your groups ([Planning your groups](/amie-advanced/planning-and-installation/planning-your-groups.md)), add users ([Roles and permissions](/amie-advanced/using-the-platform/roles-and-permissions.md)), and connect your handsets ([Connecting handsets](/amie-advanced/planning-and-installation/connecting-devices.md)).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-advanced/planning-and-installation/sign-up.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
