# Welcome to AMIE

AMIE Advanced (Advanced Mobile Intelligence for Enterprises) is Spectralink's cloud-based management and analytics console for Versity handsets. It shows you, from one place, how your handsets and their batteries are doing, how your voice calls are performing, and where the problems are.

## Who it is for

AMIE is built for the IT and telecommunications administrators who look after a fleet of shared Versity handsets: the people asked "why did my call drop?", "where is that phone?", and "do we need more of them?".

It is a monitoring and diagnostics tool. Application configuration for Versity handsets is done through Spectralink Application Management (SAM), which both AMIE Essentials and AMIE Advanced include and which has its own documentation at support.spectralink.com/sam.

## Supported handsets

AMIE works with Spectralink Versity handsets: the Versity 97, Versity 95/96 and Versity 92 series.

Each handset runs the AMIE Agent, an app that collects diagnostic data about the device, its battery, the Wi-Fi network it is on and the calls it makes, and sends that data to the AMIE cloud. There is nothing to install on your premises.

## The questions AMIE answers

When a fleet of mobile devices is deployed, the same questions come up: are the batteries wearing out, are any phones missing, do we need more, what is draining them, and how are calls performing? AMIE exists to answer them from one console.

![What's going on with my phones? Do batteries need replacing, are any phones missing, do I need more, how much power do they use, which apps use the most, can I redeploy devices, where was a device last used, and how are they performing?](https://3032864282-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FxfLF6IpyutR429bMnvvf%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-20509fa2e926eee27e220f8b67ab3846735b37d1%2Famie-questions-wheel.png?alt=media)

## AMIE Essentials and AMIE Advanced

AMIE comes in two forms. AMIE Essentials simplifies app configuration and battery management. AMIE Advanced provides everything in AMIE Essentials plus device management and analytics.

| Feature                                                              | AMIE Essentials | AMIE Advanced |

Which one you hold is decided by your license — see [Plans](/amie-advanced/introduction/plans.md) and [Licensing](/amie-advanced/planning-and-installation/licensing.md).

The rest of this guide explains how to set AMIE up and how to read what it shows you.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.spectralink.net/amie-advanced/introduction/welcome.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
